Some patriotic looking earrings!

I made these specially for the Upcyclers Etsy team! Their blog is here. The theme was red white and blues: a celebration of summer concerts. Since I've been making a lot of bottle cap earrings, I searched my stash for the perfect combo to make these earrings! I think they say summer and outdoors and good times. Right?

... or are they?

Glowing Concrete!!

This is hands down one of the coolest things I have seen lately. It's like straight out of a sci fi novel or something. SOO awesome!

Salt Lovers Rejoice!

It turns out all that bad press about salt is exactly that: bad press!

There's a new article in Scientific American that reviews the data and finds that salt has been getting a bad rep all this time. The link between salt intake and blood pressure is a weak one at best.

This is good news for us salt lovers. While I agree that sometimes salt can overpower flavors in a meal, there is nothing better than that synergy only salt can create when melding flavors in a dish :)

Pictured are some silly salt shakers I found here. And also to show some Etsy love: FullBlownGlass' awesome salt and pepper shakers.

Figured out yesterday how to save draft postings on Etsy - someone had mentioned to post more things on the weekend. I guess more people are shopping then?

But anyway, I posted some sweet earrings. These took a little longer to make, but I think I like them better because they are fancier and more dangly. I'm geting much better ideas about what to do with the bottlecaps lately, rather than just flattening them out like I used to do. Adding beads to dangle is a little tedious but also fun.

(An aside! Oh no, Georgie fell behind the tv!! Lets see if she can figure out how to get back out...)

Honey weiss, deliciosoOMG these are Sooooo cute!

FYI Georgie made it back from behind the tv, don't worry :)

New Bottlecap Earrings!

I've been working on making earrings for the past couple days while I'm home sick :-/ Its been fun though!

Here is what I've managed to post on Etsy so far!

My new Etsy Blog!

Alright, I've done it! Blogging isn't really that hard, I know, because I maintained one for a number of years, but I was just feeling lazy about this one. Now, the fun will begin! Don't forget to visit my awesome Etsy shop, Good Georgie!

The shop and this blog are named for my sweet Georgie, a tabby/tortie mix = torbie! I also have another cat named Simon, but hes more entertaining than inspirational! I also have an awesome 55 gallon goldfish tank with three goldfish, Adele, Louis, and Estefan, and two Siamese Algae Eaters, Fabio and Gabriella.

I live in Boulder CO with my boyfriend and it is a phenomenal place to live if youre looking for a change of pace! I'm in graduate school currently for Biochemistry and when I'm not doing science and making cool things, I like to hike, camp, backpack, sail, eat, drink, cook, etc...
